Higashi Honganji Temple

Yasaka Shrine is seen from the east, facing west. The main hall is on the right and the worship hall on the left. The main hall, rebuilt by the fourth shogun Tokugawa Ietsuna in 1654, is modeled after the Shishinden. Built in single-story irimoya style with a cedar-bark roof, the front is about 12m and the sides about 11m wide. The deity Susano-no-mikoto is worshipped in the central chamber, Kushiinadahime-no-mikoto in the eastern chamber, and Hachiojishin in the western chamber. Taken by F. The woman is wearing a hand towel on her head, holding a cane in her right hand, and touching the hind leg of the cow with her left hand. Early blooming plum trees are visible in the background. The shrine's guardian deity, the cow was regarded as a messenger of Sugawara-no-Michizane. This may have been taken by the British photographer H. G.           Taishi-do of Higashihonganji Temple is viewed from the southeast. There are many children around the big water fountain. The Taishi-do took 15 years to build. It was completed in 1895 according to the wishes of the head priest, Otani Kosho. Built in single-story irimoya style with a tiled roof, it is 76m wide, 56m deep, 38m high, and covers 3,800 square metres. The Wisteria Festival of Kameido Tenjin Shrine held from mid-April to mid-May every year is a harbinger of summer. There are many other events held at the shrine. The parents of young children release carp into Shinji Pond during the Shichi-Go-San Festival on November 15 to pray for the healthy growth of their children.
