This photo was taken from around the beginning point of Seven Hot Springs Road. The road goes down to theJakotsu River from where the fence of Kikkaso ends, after going up present-day National Route 1 between Fujiya Hotel main building and Kikkaso. The house at the bottom of the hill is Yorozuya. From there, Umeya, Tsutaya, and Sengokuya stand. The roofs of these spa houses are thatched.               The wooden truss bridge over Hayakawa River is connected to Fukuzumi Inn. This bridge was transferred to a little upstream in 1893, this photo was taken prior to that. Visitors crossed Taikobashi Bridge, visible in the background, and proceeded to the left (east) to the bath houses (present-day Kin-no-yu). Taikobashi Bridge was replaced with an iron bridge in 1891, indicating that this photograph was taken before that year, probably in the mid-Meiji Period.
