A bronze deer,Kasuga Shrine

When passing Nino-torii Gate of Kasuga Taisha Shrine and going east, this bronze deer is sitting on the left. The present day deer is the one made in 1951, and the one in the photo was its predecessor. The two deer are similar over all, however, around the eyes and the horns are slightly different. The previous bronze deer was probably donated to the government during the World War II.==Date:unknown, Place:Nara, Photo:Usui Shuzaburo?, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number65‐31‐0]
