Shintomi-za Theatre

Shintomi-za Theatre

After Kabuki-za opened in 1889, Shintomi-za gradually lost its appeal. Renamed Fukaya-za in 1892 and Miyako-za in 1896, it again adopted the name of Shintomi-za in 1898. Although popular for many years with theatre aficionados, it was converted to a movie theatre of the same name after the Great Earthquake of Kanto of 1923.
