This is the original Yokohama Station designed by American architect R. P. Bridgens and built in 1871. The building is of stone and wood construction. This is the site of present-day Sakuragi-cho Station. Since the bridge is of iron construction, this photograph must have been taken after 1885.       View of Shijo-Ohashi Bridge from across the Kamogawa River, facing west. The iron bridge was built in 1874 and has round lights on its parapets. Yaomasa Restaurant is located on the north side of the west end of the bridge. In the middle of the bridge is a Western-style temporary arch and a sign that says Sanshisuimei (an expression to describe the beauty of the mountains and water) .         Sensoji Temple

        This Kannon-do was rebuilt by the third shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu in 1649. The style of construction is koran mitesaki-zukuri. The photograph captures a flock of pigeons flying from Niomon (gate). The building burned down in an air raid on March 10, 1945. The present-day Kannon-do was erected on October 17, 1958.             This is a scene of the Sakurababa and Irabayashi neighbourhoods near the fork of Nakashima River and Narutaki River (present-day Nakanohashi bridge). This scenery was given the poetic name Sakuraba Seiran (cherry blossom storm) and was known as one of the eight best scenes of Nagasaki.                 Northeastern view of the snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji, taken from the bank of Fuji River in Iwabuchi, Fujikawa-machi. The mountain on the left is Mt. Iwamoto, and the tree line reaches to the forest of Matsuoka Sui Shinto Shrine (Fuji City) on the left. Two men are at the riverside, and Fujigawa Bridge, which crosses from the south of the shrine to Iwabuchi, is visible. This bridge was washed away many times from the beginning of the Meiji Period. Shin-Ohashi, Umegasaki and Matsugae bridges have been built as part of the re-routing of Nakashima River, indicating that the date is around 1887. The left panel captures the entire view of Dejima, Shin-ohashi Bridge, Shinchi and Umegasaki, the centre panel the area from Umegasaki to Minamiyamate, the Russian Consulate and the central part of the foreign settlement, and the right panel the area from the central part of the foreign settlement to Furukawa-machi. It was a two-story Western-style building with walls the colour of gray. A tower is seen in the centre, and the windows have Venetian blinds. It was demolished in 1883.                       Shinbashi Street of the Higashiyama district of Kyoto City. Chionin is the head temple of the Jodo Sect which was initiated by Honen Jonin of Yoshimizu Zenbo (temple of the Zen sect). The gate is the largest Sakura Gate in Japan, built by Tokugawa Hidetada. The construction was started in 1619 and completed two years later.
