            The Great Buddha built at Shinkoji Temple in September 1760. The bronze statue of Vairocana Buddha is located in front of the temple, facing east, and measures about 4.8 meters in height. It was made by Hasegawa Kuzaemon of Osaka. The bell tower, rebuilt in 1772, is behind the statue, and the main hall constructed in 1730 is visible to the far left.                     Hoko-ji temple was established by Hideyoshi Toyotomi (Shogun) in Higashiyama-ku,Kyoto-city and was imitated Nara Todai-ji Daibutsu-den.                       This is Enmei Jizo in autumn, 1871 after Haibutsukishaku (anti-Buddhist movement at the beginning of the Meiji era). Compared with the image in catalogue #5365, the figure's halo is broken, the accompanying jizo figures on the side are gone, and the stone lanterns have been destroyed.
