Shinkyo Bridge spans Daiya River at the entrance to Nikko-Sannai. A wisteria trellis at Kameido Shrine

These wisteria terraces were all destroyed during World War II air raids. The wisteria trees of today were planted one by one from around 1950 by the local people. The wisteria blossoms at Kameido Tenjin Shrine are said to be the best in Tokyo, and they were chosen as one of the New Best One Hundred Scenes of Tokyo. Going down the Hozu River

A yakata boat descending Hozu River is seen from the northern bank. The Kyoto Railway Company tracks and a tunnel are visible on the right. People took the approximately 16km boat ride from Hozu Town in Kameoka to Togetsu Bridge in Arashiyama. The river boats that carried lumber and goods from Tanba Kameoka to Kyoto were converted to leisure boats at the end of the Meiji Period when the Kyoto Railway was established. View of Nihonbashi River looking west, taken from Nihonbashi Bridge. The river is busy with cargo boats. Mt. Fuji was visible from this spot on clear days. The left side of the river is Nishi-gashi (west riverside), and the bridge visible in the far right is Nishi (West) Bridge. This was a transitional period when land transportation was replacing water transportation, but at this time the canal still played a major role in transporting goods.
