Koshima Hospital and the city of Nagasaki

This photo was taken some time during the period spanning the Bakumatsu - end of Meiji Period. Koshima Yojosho is standing in the middle of the photo. A hospital called Koshima Yojosho was built in May 1860 at Sako, Koshima-go, to treat commoners. In 1861, a medical school was built adjacent to the hospital.
