SHIZUOKA, Japan - An experimental remote-controlled breakwater rises from the sea floor in a demonstration at a port in Yaizu, Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan, on Nov. 17, 2011. Hitachi Zosen unveils movable breakwater

On April 5, Hitachi Zosen Corporation unveiled to the press at its Sakai Works (Nishi-ku, Sakai City) a flap-gate sluiceto be installed on the seabed at Ofunato Fishing Port (Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture). The sluice will be transported by sea from the Sakai Works to the site in mid-November, and construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2008.
