Remote-controlled breakwater

SHIZUOKA, Japan - An experimental remote-controlled breakwater rises from the sea floor in a demonstration at a port in Yaizu, Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan, on Nov. 17, 2011. Its developer Hitachi Zosen Corp. aims to introduce the new device to coastal zones where conventional breakwaters have not been installed, due to marine traffic or scenery preservation, to counter high tides or tsunami.
