Emperor visits Okinawa ahead of 70th anniv. of Tsushima Maru sinking

ITOMAN, Japan - Japan's Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko offer flowers on June 26, 2014, at a state-run grave in Itoman, Okinawa Prefecture, for the victims of the Battle of Okinawa. The imperial couple visited Japan's southwestern island prefecture ahead of the 70th anniversary of the sinking of a transport ship carrying hundreds of schoolchildren when it was torpedoed by a U.S. submarine in August 1944.
