U.S. sociologist Ezra Vogel wins Fukuoka Prize

FUKUOKA, Japan - Ezra Vogel, a U.S. sociologist and professor emeritus of Harvard University, smiles during his acceptance speech for the Fukuoka Prize in the city of Fukuoka on Sept. 18, 2014. Vogel was awarded the grand prize for his research into socioeconomic and political changes in postwar Asia. The Fukuoka Prize was established by the city of Fukuoka and others in 1990 to honor the outstanding work of individuals or organizations in preserving and creating Asian culture. (Kyodo)
