2 Japanese, American awarded Nobel Prize for inventing blue LED

TOKYO, Japan - Combined photo shows (from L) Shuji Nakamura, professor at the University of California in Santa Barbara, Isamu Akasaki, professor at Meijo University in Nagoya, and Hiroshi Amano, professor at Nagoya University, who were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 2014 on Oct. 7, 2014, for the invention of efficient blue light-emitting diodes.
