Japan receives UNESCO certificate for cultural heritage

NAGOYA, Japan - During a ceremony in Nagoya, central Japan, on Nov. 9, 2014, Irina Bokova (L), secretary general of UNESCO, and Japan's education minister Hakubun Shimomura pose with a certificate to add "washoku" traditional Japanese cuisine to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The intergovernmental panel of the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization last December approved adding traditional Japanese cuisine to the list. (Kyodo)
