Drawing of Japan diplomat hung in Aland assembly hall
LONDON, England - An official of the Aland autonomous government of Finland points to an artwork depicting Inazo Nitobe, a Japanese diplomat, addressing a session of the League of Nations as seen in this file photo taken on Nov. 11, 2014. The drawing is hung in the Aland assembly building in Mariehamn because Nitobe, as undersecretary general of the league, was credited with the settlement of a territorial dispute between Sweden and Finland over the Swedish-speaking Aland Islands in the Baltic Sea in the early 1920s.
