New Okinawa Gov. Onaga assumes duties
NAHA, Japan - Takeshi Onaga, the new governor of Japan's southernmost prefecture of Okinawa, attends a press conference at the prefectural government offices in Naha on Dec. 10, 2014, as he assumed office the same day. Onaga, 64, said that he would seek the withdrawal of a plan approved by Hirokazu Nakaima, his predecessor, to move the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station from a densely populated residential area in Ginowan to a coastal zone in the city of Nago in the prefecture.
