Tokyo gubernatorial race
TOKYO, Japan - Kanagawa Gov. Shigefumi Matsuzawa announces his candidacy for the April 10 Tokyo gubernatorial election at a press conference in a Tokyo hotel on March 1, 2011. Businessman Miki Watanabe, who founded restraint chain operator Watami Co., and former upper house lawmaker Akira Koike of the Japanese Communist Party, have already announced they will run in the closely watched race for the reins of the Japanese capital. Political sources said incumbent Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihara will not seek a fourth four-year term. (Kyodo)
