Google ordered to suspend autocomplete search function

TOKYO, Japan - Lawyer Hiroyuki Tomita speaks at a press conference in Tokyo on March 25, 2012, about a petition filed by his client and approved by the Tokyo District Court demanding Internet giant Google Inc. suspend its autocomplete search function, which the client says violated his privacy. The court's March 19 decision is believed to be the first in a case where a court has ordered the suspension of the function that suggests words before a user completes typing a word or a phrase, Tomita said.
