Tower of the Sun lit for 1st time in 40 years
SUITA, Japan - The Tower of the Sun, an artwork created by Japanese artist Taro Okamoto, is lit in both of its eyes for the first time in 40 years on March 27, 2010, as part of an event to commemorate the opening of the 1970 World Exposition in Suita, Osaka Prefecture. The tower was known as the symbol of the exhibition and currently is preserved and located in the Expo Commemoration Park in the city. (Kyodo)
