Emperor, empress travel to disaster-hit Sendai
SENDAI, Japan - Emperor Akihito (C) and Empress Michiko (R) attend on May 12, 2012, a lecture at the Miyagi prefectural government office in Sendai by Tohoku University professor Fumihiko Imamura (L) about quake countermeasures. The imperial couple traveled to Sendai the same day for a two-day visit, during which they will meet with people still living in temporary housing 14 months after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami devastated the area.
