Nagasaki mayor receives peace award in Nepal

LUMBINI, Nepal - Nepali President Ram Baran Yadav (R) hands the inaugural Gautam Buddha International Peace Award to Nagasaki Mayor Tomihisa Taue during a ceremony in Lumbini, Buddha's birthplace in southern Nepal, on May 17, 2011. Taue received the award together with former Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba in recognition of the role they played as leaders of the global Mayors for Peace movement. The two cities were devastated by atomic bombs during World War II. (Kyodo)
