Ang receives Fukuoka Asian Culture grand prize

FUKUOKA, Japan - Cambodian ethnologist Ang Choulean, a professor at Cambodia's Royal University of Fine Arts, is pictured in Fukuoka, southwestern Japan, on Sept. 15, 2011, after receiving the Grand Prize of the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prizes the same day. The prize is presented to an individual or group who has made outstanding contributions to the preservation and creation of Asian culture and has exhibited the significance of Asian culture to the world through their work. Ang is known for making significant contributions to the restoration and preservation of the Angkor Monuments, a UNESCO World Heritage site. (Kyodo)
