Hearing on imperial female family branches
TOKYO, Japan - Soichiro Tahara (far R), a well-known journalist, expresses his opinion on the issue of whether female members of the imperial family should be allowed to create their own branches of the family so they can retain their imperial status after marriage, at the prime minister's office in Tokyo on Feb. 29, 2012, as the Japanese government began the same day hearing from experts on the issue.
