King Olav V of Norway
King Olav of Norway (1903 - 1991), born Prince Alexander Edward Christian Frederik, son of Prince Carl of Denmark and Princess Maud of Great Britain. He became known as Prince Olav when his father became King Haakon of Norway in 1905. He reigned as a well-loved monarch from 1957 -1991. A renowned sportsman, he excelled at ski jumping and won Olympic gold at Amsterdam in 1928 for sailing. He was the last surviving grandchild of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra when he died in 1991.c.1940
