New Year's tea ceremony with huge bowls at Nara temple
NARA, Japan - Pilgrims attend a New Year's tea ceremony at the Saidaiji temple in Nara on Jan. 15 that involves huge tea bowls measuring 30 to 40 centimeters in diameter. The bowls weigh as much as 7 kilograms each -- so heavy that some female pilgrims required assistance when sipping the powdered green tea. (Kyodo)
