Winny software developer found guilty of copyright violations

KYOTO, Japan - Isamu Kaneko, a former researcher at the University of Tokyo who developed the Winny anonymous file-sharing software program, speaks at a news conference in Kyoto on Dec. 13 after the Kyoto District Court found him guilty of assisting users to violate copyright through online peer-to-peer file exchanges and fined him 1.5 million yen.
