Heavy snow to hit Sea of Japan coast, Hokkaido

TOKAMACHI, Japan - A man removes snow from the roof of his house in Tokamachi, Niigata Prefecture, on Dec. 18. Snow that hit wide areas of the nation by Dec. 18 has paralyzed land and air traffic. The Japan Meteorological Agency warned that heavy snowfall may continue in regions along the Sea of Japan coast and some other parts of the country as the coldest air mass so far this season hits the Japanese archipelago.
