Russian boy leaves hospital after treatment for serious burns

SAPPORO, Japan - Nikita Ryzhov, a 2-year-old Russian boy from Kunashiri Island, holds a bouquet of flowers at the Sapporo University Hospital in Hokkaido on Dec. 7 after he was discharged from the hospital where he underwent skin transplant operations for serious burns. Ryzhov was the first patient from one of the four Russian-held islands claimed by Japan to be transferred to a Japanese hospital for emergency treatment. (Kyodo)
