Court orders McDonald's to pay overtime to manager
TOKYO, Japan - Hiroshi Takano (R), manager of a McDonald's outlet in the city of Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecutre, and his wife Kuniko attend a press conference in Tokyo on Jan. 28 after the Tokyo District Court ordered McDonald's Co. (Japan) Ltd. to pay some 7.5 million yen in overtime and compensation to him. The court acknowledged his claim that while McDonald's had appointed him to a managerial post, he was not given any authority as a manager and therefore should have been paid for overtime. (Kyodo)
