Japan, India to launch $6 bil. currency swap scheme in spring
NEW DELHI, India - Japanese Finance Minister Fukushiro Nukaga (L) and his Indian counterpart Palaniappan Chidambaram pose for photographers during a meeting in New Delhi on Jan. 4. Nukaga and Chidambaram agreed to launch a bilateral currency swap arrangement in the spring in which the two countries will provide up to $6 billion in total to stem a financial crisis, Japanese officials said.
