Japanese solar car sets new world speed record
MIYAKOJIMA, Japan - A solar car driven by Kenjiro Shinozuka, who became the first Japanese to win the Dakar Rally in 1997, travels on a runway at Shimojijima Airport in the city of Miyakojima, Okinawa Prefecture, on Aug. 20, 2014. It achieved an average speed of 91.3 kilometers per hour, setting a new world speed record for a solar car. (Kyodo)
