Japanese solar car sets new world speed record

MIYAKOJIMA, Japan - Driver Kenjiro Shinozuka, who became the first Japanese to win the Dakar Rally in 1997, celebrates with his supporters on a runway at Shimojijima Airport in the city of Miyakojima, Okinawa Prefecture, on Aug. 20, 2014, after setting a new world speed record for a solar car. His car achieved an average speed of 91.3 kilometers per hour, breaking the previous record of 88.8 kilometers per hour. (Kyodo)
