China farm land long contaminated with cadmium
SANHE, China - Photo taken in December, 2014, shows a drain in Sanhe village in China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The drain is suspected of being contaminated by cadmium and other pollutants. Since the mid-1950s, a state-run company has mined lead and zinc in the area and there is evidence that the local water source has been polluted by waste from the mining operations. (Kyodo)
