Riot police seen training in ethnic Tibetan area of China

SHANGRI-LA, China - About 1,000 riot police were seen marching in an area populated by ethnic Tibetans in China's southwestern province of Yunnan on March 24, in what appeared to be training in case new violence erupts in the wake of unrest that rocked Tibet and nearby provinces this month. The ethnic Tibetan area of northwestern Yunnan neighbors Tibet, which was hit by deadly rioting in mid-March. (Kyodo)
