10,000 in Kobe evacuate for removal of WWII dud bomb

KOBE, Japan - Sand bags have been piled around an unexploded shell that was found at a construction site in Kobe's Higashinada Ward. Ten thousand residents in the area were evacuated on March 4 to enable the Ground Self-Defense Force to dispose of the shell, which was apparently dropped by the U.S. military during World War II.
