Farmer seeks Guinness Book listing for 56-leaf clover
MORIOKA, Japan - This is a photo of a 56-leaf clover bred by farmer Shigeo Obara of Hanamaki in the northeastern Japan prefecture of Iwate. Obara, 84, who discovered the clover on May 10, will seek to have it listed in the Guinness Book of Records as a world record for the most number of leaves on a clover stem, surpassing the previous record of 18 leaves on a clover discovered by Obara in 2002. ''I never dreamed of seeing this many leaves on a clover,'' he said, adding he had counted them by putting decals on each leaf. (Kyodo)
