Thais join Pacific tsunami simulation exercise

BANGKOK, Thailand - Officials at the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Regional Center on a Bangkok suburb are engaged in a tidal wave evacuation exercise, part of the first ever region-wide test of the Pacific Tsunami Warning System, on May 17. The two-hour evacuation exercise was a simulated response to a magnitude 8.8 earthquake occurring north of the Philippines and affecting both the western Pacific and the South China Sea. (Kyodo)
