Japanese woman not new flu cases

YOKOHMA, Japan - A Yokohama city government official (L) holds a news conference at the Yokohama city hall on May 3. He said a Japanese woman in her 40s was found not to be infected with the new strain of the influenza A virus. The woman, originally from Tokyo, developed symptoms of fever and coughing after returning from San Francisco on April 28 and was staying at her friend's home in Yokohama. (Kyodo)

                STORY: Indian gov't issues advisory on hand, foot and mouth disease DATELINE: Aug. 25, 2022 LENGTH: 0:01:33 LOCATION: New Delhi CATEGORY: HEALTH SHOTLIST: 1. various of India gate 2. various of kids 3. various of hospital area STORYLINE: The Indian government has issued an advisory to states on hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), commonly known as tomato flu, officials said Wednesday. The advisory was issued by the federal health ministry on Tuesday evening after over 100 cases of the disease were reported from four states, namely Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Haryana. According to the WHO, HFMD is mild and self-limiting, with common symptoms including fever, painful sores in the mouth, and a rash with blisters on hands, feet and buttocks. However, more severe symptoms such as meningitis, encephalitis and polio-like paralysis may occur.
