IWC chairman urges Japan to cut size of 'research whaling' catch
MADEIRA, Portugal - William Hogarth, chairman of the International Whaling Commission, speaks to Kyodo News on June 22 on the Portuguese island of Madeira, where the IWC's 2009 general meeting started the same day. Hogarth has urged Japan to cut the size of its catch for so-called research whaling in order to win the nod from anti-whaling nations for it to resume coastal whaling. (Kyodo)
