Chorus contest at empty hall in flu-hit Japan
IWAKI, Japan - Members of a chorus group sing in an empty hall during a contest in Iwaki in the northern Japan prefecture of Fukushima on Aug. 28. In a rare move, the prefectural choral association decided to close the 1,700-seat competition venue to spectators for fear of spreading the new H1N1 strain of influenza A. High school girl Ena Yasuda, one of about 3,700 participants, said after her performance that she felt ''strange'' singing to an empty hall. (Kyodo)
