Ex-Foreign Minister Machimura narrowly wins reelection
SAPPORO, Japan - Former Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura of the Liberal Democratic Party bows to supporters in Sapporo on Aug. 30 after losing in Hokkaido's No. 5 single-seat constituency in the House of Representatives election. But Machimura, also a past chief Cabinet secretary, regained a seat in the proportional representation block. (Kyodo)
