Memorial service held for U.S. crewmen of B-29 shot down over Ch
KISARAZU, Japan - Two Buddhist priests recite a sutra during the first memorial service held in Kisarazu, Chiba Prefecture, on Aug. 8 for 12 American airmen who died when their B-29 bomber was shot down by Japanese artillery fire during World War II. About 150 Japanese and American nationals attended the service, among them Col. Edward McAllister of the U.S. air force, an attache at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo. (Kyodo)
