Anti-nuclear power scientist Kume dies at 83
TOKYO, Japan - Sanshiro Kume (file photo), an outspoken anti-nuclear power plant scientist, died of heart failure on Sept. 2. He was 83. Specializing in radiochemistry, Kume served as an advisor to residents who filed a lawsuit seeking to revoke a state permit for construction of the Monju fast-breeder nuclear reactor in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture.
