Okinawa city uses bumper stickers to protest U.S. military base

GINOWAN, Japan - Ginowan Mayor Yoichi Iha pastes a sticker on his official car in a bumper sticker campaign he began on Sept. 7 to urge a resolution to the problems associated with having a U.S. military base in the Okinawan city. Takakubo was found lying in a bathroom on the fourth floor of the No. 1 building of the university's Korakuen Campus. The suspect, who appeared to be in his 30s, ran from the scene.                     TOKYO, Japan - A four-member group from Tokyo Denki University sets off July 3 on a second attempt to travel around the world in a car converted to run on electric power. Masaharu Fujinaka, professor of electrical engineering at the university, and three of his students left the Kanda campus in Tokyo in the morning for Toyama, central Japan, where they will board a ferry for the Russian Far East city of Vladivostok. The 18,000-kilometer journey, expected to take about 100 days, will take them through Russia, Europe and the United States.
