Afghan national assembly convenes June 10

KABUL, Afghanistan - Ismail Qasemyar (R), chairman of the Loya Jirga Commission, and Lakhdar Brahimi, U.N. special envoy, attend a news conference in Kabul, Afghanistan, on June 8, two days ahead of the convocation of Afghanistan's emergency national assembly. The assembly is aimed at choosing a new transitional government to lead the nation until a fully representative government can be chosen through general elections within two years.
