Japan decides to end COVID-19 emergency as cases fall

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga (C) tells a COVID-19 task force meeting in Tokyo on Sept. 28, 2021, that the government has decided to lift the coronavirus state of emergency covering Tokyo, Osaka and 17 other prefectures at the end of the month as infections have declined from their peak.
