Albert II of Monaco Fly In A 100% Electric Aircraft - Nice
It's a flight of only 30 minutes or so but one that will go down in history. This Tuesday morning, aboard a Pipistrel Velis electro, Prince Albert II of Monaco became the very first head of state to take to the skies in a 100% electric aircraft, claimed Nice airport, from where the aircraft departed and landed. The Slovenian company's two-seater, piloted by Raphaël Domjan, who was at the controls of the SolarStratos solar plane, took off at 9.30am. The "thirty-minute flight" took the sovereign "as far as the Principality, which he was able to fly over without any noise or CO2 emissions before returning to land on the Nice tarmac", the platform said.France Nice, September 15 2021.
