Spain's COVID-19 deaths surpassed 100,000, according to the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.
The Health Ministry's daily update showed that 154 people died of the virus from 13:00 GMT Tuesday to the same time on Wednesday.
That means a total of 100,037 Spaniards had by them been confirmed to have lost their lives to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
The vaccination campaign, which began on Dec. 27, 2020, has since helped to substantially reduce mortality.
SOUNDBITE (Spanish): CAROLINA DARIAS, Spain's Health Minister
"It's true we have a good evolution, but we have to lament the deaths that have happened in recent days. Everything points to us reaching a peak. The numbers are still high."
