STORYLINE:
Recently, researchers spotted about 15 scaly-sided mergansers on the water area near the Jinggangshan water control project of Ganjiang River in Wan'an County, Jiangxi Province.
Scaly-sided merganser, a first-class nationally protected animal of China, migrates to the south of the Huaihe River in October every year. The number of scaly-sided mergansers migrating to Jiangxi Province is large, with the highest record of 165 in 2015.
Previously, scaly-sided mergansers have been spotted in this water area for several times. Its population is relatively stable.
