STORYLINE:
Egypt has decided to reduce the number of full isolation hospitals nationwide to four amid a steady decrease in COVID-19 infections, acting Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said on Wednesday.
The minister said the decision was issued after he met with the country's health officials on Tuesday evening to follow up on the situation of the pandemic in the Arab country.
In March, Egypt stopped publishing daily bulletins on the COVID-19 pandemic and chose to publish a weekly report instead when the health ministry said the fifth wave of the pandemic had subsided in Egypt.
According to the latest report, Egypt registered around 3,900 new infections and 56 deaths in the week that ended on April 1.
